More information on Brennan's Houston

Fine dining a la New Orleans: Brennan's opened in 1967 as a sister restaurant to the famous New Orleans original, and it's a perennial favorite on most local "Top Restaurant" lists. It's now independent and offers some great dishes that the original doesn't. The various dining rooms are strikingly elegant. (I don't think you'll find a lovelier table in all of Houston.) The service is superb, and the menu will be new territory to all but those coming from Louisiana. The selection of dishes varies daily but usually has a few classic Creole specialties such as rouxless seafood gumbo and turtle soup. Brennan's is also known for its chef's table, which is located in the restaurant's kitchen. The table must be reserved far in advance and can accommodate between 4 and 10 people at $75 per person. For that price, guests are treated to several of the chef's special creations right as they come off the stove.
