More information on Zin Restaurant & Lounge
Zin's interior was redone in 2004 and now glows with deep reddish hues offset by comfy loungeable sofas and chairs on one side and dining booths on the other with flickering candlelight all around. The restaurant is in the Pacific Palisades Hotel (see chapter 5) but managed separately. Come here for a restaurant meal (breakfast, lunch, or dinner) or tapas made with fresh local ingredients and a global accent. There are lots of small plates priced in the C$8 to C$16 (US$6.50-US$13) range. Dishes include classic steamed mussels and Asian-inspired specialties like coconut crab, shrimp, and rice cakes. You can get a steak and fries, smoked wild salmon with horseradish butter sauce, butter curry scallops, or vegetarian linguine. The result, whether you're dining on entrees or sharing small plates, is a fun, casual experience with cuisine that's more varied and less expensive than any of the glorified pub-food outlets on Robson. Best of all, Zin's martinis still delight, the selection of wines-by-the-glass still is large, and if you're hankering for a Zinfandel, Zin's has the best selection in town.
