Description

The translation of the name Boca Nova actually means 'the in thing' and that about sums up this place - it may have only been opened for a while but it's already on the circuit for Bristol's discerning, young and trendy diners. This is partly because it offers great food, but what gives it an edge over other establishments is its funky design and modern outlook. Don't expect the same old versions of South American food, like fajitas and nachos, the cuisine here is much more interesting than that. The chef, Humberto Benevento has fused Brazilan and Mediterranean flavours to create dishes such as fejoada (black bean stew with chorizo) and pan-fried sea bass in a mango and coriander sauce. For added atmosphere, visit on M or Tu nights when a Portuguese vocalist and a guitarist make the place reverb to salsa rhythms. And if you're really going the whole way with the Latin feel, try one of their wicked caipirinhas - that's rum, lime and crushed ice to the uninitiated.
