More information on Le Jardin de Paris
In the heart of Buda's Watertown, just across the street from the modern-looking Institut Français is this wonderful little French bistro, celebrating its 15th year in existence. A cozy cellar space, it is decorated with an eclectic collection of graphic arts, posters, and lithographs. The restaurant is not about nouvelle cuisine, but prides itself for its '70s-style French bistro-like atmosphere and cuisine. The menu features a variety of French specialties, and the wine list offers both French as well as Hungarian vintages. Presentation is fine, the service is excellent, while the food is adequate. As you eat by candlelight a lone pianist keys away French chansons and jazz tunes. We tried a delicious assortment of house pâtés, including goose, duck, and a mixed variety. The lamb was tender, stuffed with acidy olives, served with broccoli, cauliflower, and potatos. There's outdoor seating in a garden area in summer.
