The very stylish Belvedere is one of the most impressive of Calgary's restaurants. The dining room exudes a darkly elegant, 1930s atmosphere. The menu blends traditional favorites with stand-up-and-take-notice preparations. Foie gras frequently appears as an appetizer, perhaps seared with a tart Macintosh apple tart tatin, all robed with Sauterne wine reduction. Main courses feature local meats and seasonal produce; favorite main courses include pork chops with apple and rutabaga risotto, Meursault wine-poached lobster, and roast duck with blood orange sauce.
