When every place else on College Hill is closed, full, or downright tacky, there's always The Rue. It serves breakfast or brunch, lunch, and dinner every day, a rebuke to those restaurateurs who can barely bring themselves to open 5 nights a week for a couple of hours. The interior is decked in warm, woody tones, with every type of seating configuration and not a square inch of wasted space. It is filled with people of all ages, from Brown frosh and grad students to profs to retirees. Easily the most popular brunch in town proffers "Rue Melt," an irresistible assemblage of English muffin, Thai crab cake, poached eggs, home fries, and lemon-grass aioli. The brunch prices don't hurt, either, only $9 to $12 for main courses. During the week, lunch can be any of a dozen small plates -- peel-and-eat shrimp and lobster and mushroom crepes, among them -- and dinners run to bouillabaisse, rack of lamb, and roasted salmon.
