Heichinro is one of the oldest, most well known Cantonese restaurants in Chinatown. And with seven floors to choose from, it is also one of the largest. It is known as the granddaddy of Chinatown, and its popularity makes reservations a must. The first floor is famous for its immense variety of dim sum. As with all Chinatown's best dining spots, Heichinro's prices reflect the superb quality of both its food and its service. It has a great lunch menu, which is priced a bit more economically. Heichinro is situated about a block away from the Holiday Inn Yokohama, and is about a leisurely ten-minute walk from Ishikawacho Station.Food Type: Heichinro specializes in Cantonese, which is the regional cuisine best known to most Americans and Europeans. Most people will find all the seafood, sweet and sour and dim sum dishes that they are familiar with, as well as some new and exotic ones perhaps. There is something for everyone. At lunch they also serve a great mix of Chinese and Taiwanese food at very good prices. Everything you need is here, from generous portions of fried rice, to sweet and sour shrimp to more exotic dishes like pigeon. The beverages include several types of Chinese and Japanese beers, rice wines, whiskeys and cocktails.Decor: Heichinro has seven floors, each tastefully decorated, and each creating a slightly different atmosphere. Heichinro's popularity ensures that an integral part of the decor is the well-dressed crowd eating, drinking and noisily chatting away.
