Going away for business can be daunting. It is hard to leave my little baby behind, but it is a nice escape as well. The problem is that you never know what to expect. While meeting as a group is an important way to cover business when you have attendees that reside all over the United States, it is often difficult to leave the comforts of home and the conveniences of your office. For example, often - even though I have called ahead, I have arrived at a hotel and found that there was not wireless in the room.
My experience at the Embassy Suites surpassed all expectations. The hotel itself is located conveniently just seconds from the Estero exit on 1-75. The staff was attentive, helpful and friendly. The rooms were beautiful. I was quite surprised to walk in and find a flat screen t.v. in my living room. That just starts off the list of amenities. Others include:
- Beverage Area (Every day there's a Happy Hour from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. with complimentary drinks). What a nice way to end a long day of work!
- Breakfast Area (Every weekday there is a complimentary cooked to order breakfast). What a treat! Everything was delicious!
- Gift Shop
- Laundry/Valet Service
- Local Area Transportation
- Lounge
- Convenience Store
- Workout Center
- Pool
Our experience there was suburb. Every need we had, from personal to business was met within minutes. But I wanted to share two experiences that made this Embassy Suites one that I look forward to revisiting in the future.
On our first morning there our keys would not open the room. We took the keys down to the front desk. They rekeyed them. But once again, they did not work. The hotel manager who was standing in the front desk area personally apologized and said that he personally was going to go up to the room and try the keys. He stepped up stayed with our group until the key finally worked. One of my favorite quotes in business is "It's not if you make a mistake, it's how you handle it".
On the day that several of our colleagues needed to get to the airport to catch a plane back to their hometown, the shuttle was delayed by just a few minutes. We inquired with the front desk about the shuttle, however, the hotel general manager told us that he would personally drive them to the airport - just to make sure they arrive with plenty of time.
I will end my review by letting anyone that is planning to stay at the Embassy Suites know that their beds might just be the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on. I have a lot of trouble sleeping - especially in a new place, but those comfy beds may just have been the biggest winner in my book.
Thank you Embassy Suites, Estero, FL for making my time away from home for business - feel like I was at a home away from home.
