Happy 40^th Vesna

Travelled along the Gibb River, around the Cockburn Ranges and arrived at El Questro about 11.30. What a fantastic spot. We chose to get a secluded camping spot down on the Pentecost River and it was so beautiful. The nearest campsite was about 200mts away so it was like we were on our own. Heaps of bird life and heaps of little fish in the river. Supposedly there were crocs in it too so we weren’t going to go swimming to find out. After all the bumpy driving over the past few days we decided to just set up camp and chill out.

Next day I awoke feeling really lousy so didn’t feel up to doing too much. We went for a walk up El Questro Gorge which was absolutely beautiful - heaps of palms and shaded most of the way - it was about as much as I felt like doing. We also drove down to the Chamberlain Gorge and from a distant saw where all the rich people stay.

Thursday morning I woke feeling tons better so we headed off to Zebedee Springs. This was a really short walk to rainforest thermal pools. You felt like you’d reached paradise. We hopped into one of the warm pools and relaxed and soaked ourselves. This was magic. Heaps of people starting getting there so we decided to head off to Amalia Gorge. This was a lot more open and had some very dramatic, spectacular rock formations. I had to opt out of the last section of the walk as my ankle was playing up and the terrain got a bit more rugged and precarious - of course billy goat Greg made it to the end and he was probably relieved that at last he could walk somewhere and not have to wait for me taking photos of flowers or just being my clumsy, awkward self. We were quite sweaty by the end of the walk so headed back to the township and had a well deserved shower and then had a delicious lunch at the Steakhouse overlooking the Pentecost River. Life is bloody good (especially with a few bundys throw in.)
