Off to the West Edmonton Mall!
Frankly this place in unbelievable, the sheer size of it... We checked out the amusement park - but the one ride I wanted to do, the roller coaster, was down
!(
We got a sneak peek of the sea lion show while the stars were training before their next performance. We then made our way down to the deep sea caverns to watch the shark feeding and make friends with the penguins. Craig was amazed that there was a hockey rink in the mall and a peewee tournament finishing up. [Craig's note: I was also flabbergasted by the fact that three major junior refs were working the novice game]. We walked through all the fun stores, but of course couldn't buy anything because our car is jammed. Europia was our last stop. This section of the mall is propped to look like a cute European village and was decorated for x-mas... we later found out it was because they just finished filming a Christmas film featuring Patrick Swayze (however you spell his last name).
With a major storm warning, we decided to put our tarp and tent up before we visited a local pub and watched Canada bet eliminated by Congo in the U-20 soccer game. Being still early, but crappy outside, we went to see Evan Almighty - cute film. WE were quite happy to return to a dry tent !)
