Grand Palace

From Our World Trip 2009-2010 in Bangkok, Thailand on Nov 01 '09

Phil & Charlie has visited no places in Bangkok

Back once more just for a day to see the palace and local attractions before we head to Cambodia.

The Grand Palace was our first stop and what an amazing place especially in the very casual trousers that Phil had to rent to cover his legs in order to get in and the shirt that Charlie had to use to cover her shoulders  – every building beautifully restored and shining like nothing we’d ever seen before –such a shame that no photo can do it justice.

Got a ferry boat down river to visit Wat Poh – home of the largest reclining Buddha in the world – what kind of record is that – it must be 20 meters long and we know we shouldn’t say it but he looks like he’s just visited one of the other Thai attractions – all he needs is a cigarette in his hand.

We took a tour around China town – pretty vibrant place and we were going to eat there but it’s not quite as user friendly as Manchester’s – a little bit more local – seeing the live crabs being cut open in the gutter did suppress our appetites.

Outside of that we did a bit of life admin and are looking forward to moving on – see you in Cambodia...
