Dreux wanted to title this entry Dorks in New York - because that's pretty much what we felt like trying to find our way around. We arrived on Sunday evening - our RV park is across the Hudson River from NYC in Jersey City.  We can actually see the Statue of Liberty from where we're parked.  We saw the Statue and Ellis Island on Monday - pretty stress free and enjoyable.  Tuesday we made up for that by going into the city!  The subway as seen on TV and movies looks like fun and I'm sure it's not bad if you have some idea where you are and where you want to go.  When those two components are missing - it becomes stressful.  Even a map is not all that helpful when you don't know which way is which.  On the bright side - everyone we asked for help or directions from was friendly and willing to share what they knew.  We were cautioned that not everyone who shared info actually knew what they were talking about so we did walk in circles a couple times - but all in all we did OK.  When we returned to the city on Wed. we felt much more comfortable.  We were able to get around like less conspicuous dorks!

A trip through the Tribute WTC Visitor Center was emotional but necessary.  It is so hard to imagine being here during that terrible time.  Rebuilding still has many streets closed and detours all around.

We were able to find Central Park and take a carriage ride tour - that was fun and since we were running out of time - we got to see more than if we'd walked.

All in all I think our trip to NYC was a huge success.  I could even be talked into coming back for a visit at a later date - but Dreux says this is his last time!
