Our visit to Maine was not long but we had a good time.  We stayed in a little place called Bass Harbor on Mt. Desert (pronounced dessert) Island.  We were the only campers in the park who didn't work there.  Everyone else had gone home!  We found this to be true everywhere we went - many places were "closed for the season".  We are just a couple of weeks too late :(  We saw a beautiful sunset from the lighthouse on the first evening and the next day enjoyed lobster in Bar Harbor - a bigger little town close by.  The lobster was delicious - just not enough of it.  We looked out over the island from Mt. Cadillac - a spot where at sunrise you could be the first person in the country to see the sun come up.  The weather was nice part of the time but when we woke up to heavy rain on Sat. we decided to hit the road.  The rain followed us all the way down the coast to Massachussets.
