Day 52
Limassol was only about 45 minutes away from Larnaca. Cyprus was not keen on having many buses running on a Saturday so I got a shared taxi to Limassol where I got dropped off at the tourist information centre. I was told that there was a couple of places to see in Limassol but the best sights were out of town - the ancient cities of Amathus and Kourion, and Kolossi Castle.
However, buses in Limassol were even more particular about not running at weekends as the lady in the tourist information told me that there were only buses running to Kolossi Castle. The next bus was in 10 minutes so I rushed off to the bus station and did not stop to see anything of Limassol.

Even though Kolossi was only about 12km away from Limassol, the bus went round all the houses and took about 40 minutes. The driver kindly told me when to get off for the castle and pointed the direction of the castle was. He also warned me that the last bus back to Limassol was at 1pm and that I should be at the bus stop early. It was still about 1km to walk to the castle. As for the castle, it was nice enough but not that big or that special.
I walked back to the bus stop and was there ten minutes early in line with the bus driver's advice. Forty minutes later, I was still stood at the bus stop.
On the other side of the road, a bus came past and its driver was making hand gestures at me. Now I may not be totally fluent in international hand gestures but I knew that he was telling me that I was waiting on a bus that was just not going to come.
I went into a nearby shop and asked the people in there about the likely cost of a taxi back to Limassol. They said that it would probably be about 34 Euros.
I then told them that I would walk the 12 km to Limassol and asked them for directions. They showed me where to go and looked at me like I was mad. After more than two hours of walking in the afternoon sun back to Limassol, I thought that I was mad too.
