A few more days in Cairo....

Well, still in Cairo. Anyone that's been here before obviously knows how crazy it is.....I had no idea. Getting used to it though.....crossing the road is still the scariest part, well that and being in the back of a circa 1960 Lada with no seatbelts going at least a 100mph down a motorway....

So have sorted out all my paperwork for Sudan and Ethiopia now, hope it's all in order. Have spent the last few days doing that and seeing some sights around the city. Egyptian Museum (to see lots of Tutankhamun stuff), Mosques in Islamic Cairo and a random walk around a pretty run down area of the Old Town. Lots to see but to be honest the heat and the humidity mean that after a few hours it's time for a nap!!

Have met nearly everyone on the trip so far and it's been great fun. There's 46 of us altogether which is alot of people but we are spilt onto 2 different trucks. We're travelling a day apart so we won't be together all the time although we meet them for the weekly ferry to Sudan in 3 weeks and we're spending Christmas and New Years together too which I'm sure will be fun!

Pretty tired today (I think the Egyptian stella may have something to answer for!) so instead of going shopping at the markets we went and sat by the pool instead! Our hotel doesn't have one, it's not that fancy! So we paid 40 Egyptian pounds to use someone elses! ( 4.90 euro) Turns out that included free food too. It was on the roof of a hotel and to be honest is just what we needed!

Have our pre-departure meeting tonight so will get all the last things sorted, then it's off to see the pyramids on Friday and then hitting the road on Saturday! Everyone just can't wait to get going at this stage...Off to Luxor to see the Valley of the Kings, then on to Aswan to catch the ferry to Sudan on Nov 2nd.

No photos as yet, have taken a handful, all from the top of a Minoret tower in an old mosque so some great views of the city. No camera on me though so will upload some before I leave Cairo.

Just waiting for the adventure to begin, then I realise I suppose it already has and I'm really enjoying it all so far!
