So now we've been in the sun for about 3 hours and I feel fried to a crisp. Pale redheads were not meant for the sun. But I've been talking to Dr. Carajas, an economics professor from IUP who was visiting the site with us, and I feel better about my future. I know the next semester is going to be crazy, what with grad school applications and my physics classes. It's a bit reassuring to know that grad school doesn't have to be torture for chemists. Ok, so I don't want to spend the next 4 to 6 years of my life locked away. Does that make me a bad chemist? Apparently not. I don't want to turn into my research advisor. Though he's awesome and brilliant, I want more than a half day off for Christmas holiday while I'm doing my doctoral research. I don't want to be trained to be a workaholic in grad school. I want a family at some point, and a life beyond my job.

Which leaves me where? Everyone keeps saying I need to look at the professors, so maybe when I research graduate schools, I'll do that. Maybe I'll email Dr. Kondo. Hopefully she can shed some light on this...
