Tempel und was (what) or wat (Tempel in Lao)

Wer nach Laos geht haelt vermutlich in Luang Prabang, jeder kennt es und kommt hierher und ich wei฿ erlich gesagt nicht genau warum. Es ist keine Partystadt, zwar umgeben von Bergen, aber lไngst nicht so sch๖n und besonders wie die Landschaft in Vang Vieng. Viele Reisende gehen hier auf Ein- oder Zweitages-Wanderungen. Nationalparks gibt es genuegend in Laos, daher war ich etwas enttไuscht von der Stadt. Luang Prabang und berhaupt Nordlaos liegt etwas h๖her in den Bergen, daher ist es nachts auch frisch; sehr angenehm nach der Hitze.

Michael hat sich aufgemacht gen Myanmar (Burma), daher habe ich mich alleine auf die achtstndige Busfahrt gemacht. An diesem Tag habe ich einiges an Geld gespart. Zuerst wurde uns eine Nacht in Vang Vieng nicht berechnet, dann wurde mein extra Sandwich vergessen und in dem luxuri๖sem Bus hat mich auch keiner nach Geld gefragt.

Dafr war Luang Prabang eine extrem teure Stadt. Ich kam im Dunkeln an und bin dann ewig durch den Ort auf der Suche nach nem billigem Bett. Den nไchsten Tag habe ich dann in ein Schlafsaal im teurem Hostel eingecheckt; mit Internet und Frhstck inklusive kann man mit dem Preis auch leben.

Ich habe mich dann auch viel mit meinem Laptop beschไftigt, waren eh kaum Sehenswrdigkeiten in der Stadt. Das Museum habe ich mit trotzdem gegeben, welches so grad eben okay war. Da฿ der Tempel ‘Wat Xieng Thong’ ein unbedingtes Mu฿ sein solle, konnte ich allerdings nicht nachvollziehen. Fr mich war es ein Tempel wie andere auch. Auf dem Nachtmarkt gab es gnstiges vegetarisches Bueffet und leckere Fruchtshakes, mein Highlight in Luang Prabang. Den typischen Rock, den fast jede Frau in Laos trไgt, habe ich dort auch gefunden.

Nach dem getoastetem Toast in einem echtem Toaster (eine echte Raritไt in Asien) bin ich mit dem ersten Minibus gen Nordosten.

Who ever is going to Laos will probably stop in Luang Prabang. Everybody knows it. Honestly I do not really know why. It is not a party town, it is surrounded by mountain but not as beautiful and special as in Vang Vieng Lot of tourists doing one or two day treks. There are several National Parks in Laos. I was a bit dissapointed from this town. Luang Prabang and the rest of northern Laos is located up in the hills that means chillier nights which is really nice after the heat.

Michael took off to Myanmar so I went alone again on the eight hour bus trip. On this day I saved a lot of money. They did not charged us for the fourth night, they forgot my extra sandwich and nobody ask me more money in this luxury bus. Luang Prabang is quite an expensive town though. I arrived in the dark and walked around looking for a cheap bed. The othyer day I moved to the more expensive dorm bed in a hostel, with the inclusive breakfast and internet the price is reasonable.

I used my laptop a lot there. Was not much to see in town anyway. I visited the museum which was just okay. That the famous temple ‘Wat Xieng Thong’ is a must do in Laos I cannot agree with. For me it is a temple like others. My highlight was the cheap vegetarian buffet and the fruit shakes at the night market. I also bought the traditional Lao skirt almost every woman is wearing.

After the toasted toast in a real toaster (really rare in Asia) I took off with a minibus to the north east.
