We stayed in La Pirogue which is near Wolmar at the coast. Unfortunately, Real Travel does not allow me to put the pin of the map there.
Mauritius travel, day 1:
It may be cloudy but you'll still get sunburnt.

After a sleepless night in the airplane (where we had snacks made in Stanley, county Durham), we arrived in Mauritius. The flight was good, the crew discreet and they wouldn’t annoy anyone. Do you want water? Just get up and go to the crew quarters to ask for it. This way you will not annoy your co-passengers who are sleeping.
In the airport we were greeted with a bouquet of anthurium flowers and a wet perfumed towel. We were led to our driver, where we received another present (a bag with a towel, two bottles of water and two pairs of slippers, courtesy of the Cormorano tours). The airport is at the South-East part of the island. When we arrived all around us was wet and the humidity relatively high. Our driver to La Pirogue was very good, kind of risky though. The motorway traffic was good but as soon as we came out from the motorway the traffic became as fast as a snail and the roads became very narrow due to cars parked or stopped “for a while”, lack of pavement, and cars overtaking bicycles.

We arrived at La Pirogue..., very nice welcome and nice place but all we cared for was a nice comfortable bed. The weather was drier than the airport area. When we arrived at the room, the air-condition was at full power and the room was more like a fridge. For this, we switched off the air-con and headed to the beach where we lied on the beach chairs and slept there until lunch time. Even though it was cloudy we still got burned especially my wife who became red to all exposed parts of her body. Having been recently to Greece, I survived the red colour to a nicer brown. The rest of the day was spent sleeping and eating.

Mauritius travel, day 2:
After breakfast we enquired about all the things we can do without paying extra at the hotel and we also had a chat with our Cormorano travel agent regarding the offered packages to see other parts of the island. Being honeymooners our package was upgraded to full board (which apparently is very different from ‘all-inclusive’). However we still had to pay for our drinks (115 Rs for 1 litre still water, 135 Rs for sparkling water, 110 Rs for a coffee).

The rest of the day was spent sunbathing, snorkelling within the reef barrier, and enjoying the gastronomy of the hotel. The snorkelling was amazing..., fantastic corals, shells, and exotic fish..., like you are swimming inside an aquarium like the ones we have in Europe. The colours of the fish and the shells are absolutely amazing. Too bad we forgot our subaqua camera in Britain.

At night we danced to some Jazz and Blues music. Every night he hotel offers a different show by various performers. Last night they had Caribbean music. Tomorrow is the Sega dance and we are looking forward to it.
