It was the most awful ride on the ferry at the beginning. It was so choppy and stormy outside. All this rain was hitting the windows and someone was throwing up violently at the front. I felt so ill...

Coming out of the boat, same as in Hvar there's loads of people asking if you need accommodation. I bumped into two young English blokes I'd spoken to briefly earlier in the day at the tourism office and they said that they were going to a hostel that had good reviews on the internet and if I was looking for a place I could come with them. So I did that and stayed in a triple room for a third of the price I payed for the apartment. Got a lift to the hostel from the owner in his BMW too!

They were only about 20ish I reckon, and one of them goes to Cambridge Uni and the other to Oxford! We went for a walk through the town once we got to the hostel and dropped our bags. It was very cute, kind of a bit more upmarket-feeling than Hvar I would say. Bit smaller I think. The place we stayed was nice. It was a villa about 15 minutes away from town (unfortunately I didn't take pictures). There was a little pool and a big kitchen, proper bathroom, etc - sleeps 17. There were about 10 people from Belgium staying on the ground floor. We had a few drinks all together that evening and it was nice!

Next day me and my new friends, Tom and Luke, hired some bikes and cycled to a sandy beach in Lambarda (yes, rare but true actual sand on a beach). It was a fantastic way to see some country side. My first bit of absolute joy was picking some figs just before getting the bikes. And then after that all day I munched on various things that we passed. Lots of grapes, picked a pomegranate off the tree and we had it in homemade Sangria with cucumber and orange juice. Mmm

Got a big bunch of olives and have brought them back to marinate too! Everywhere there was all these big squashes. I was so tempted to pick one and have it for dinner!

We had a really delicious lunch at the sandy beach before going for a dip. It was very simple just chips, bread and salad but it all tasted so great. Then a first proper swim. Yay! The cloud was coming over though... half an hour later it pissed down for about an hour. We took shelter at the cafe under a tiny little awning in towels after going for a swim. Everything was wet! The two boys were really good singers. Tom had his iPod thing and some speakers and they were singing away doing a great duet. It was genuinely very good.

After the rain subsided, we trecked further along to a little point. At one point we'd gone up a hill and came to a private property sign. It seemed the way and you could still get through - it didn't say no pedestrians or bikes - and we were thinking of just going for it when these big belches started emanating from this little hut just beyond the gate. It was really eeky! And then there was this big groan. That was the decider, we got the fuck out of there quick smart. Ahhhh that was a little on the spooky side.

Got to the point and then had a good long ride on the way back. Really good feeling.

That night had dinner with Tom and Luke (turns out Tom just happens to be vegetarian too which was good - Luke at one point said that he thought when he cut himself it was bleeding heaps more than normal and it was coz he hadn't had meat since they'd been on holiday together, ha ha). Later we went with the Belgians to a cocktail bar and had aI had yet another mojito!

Got up 5am the next morning to catch the ferry back to Split. At the next stop more people got on and I was laid across two chairs (somehow, as there's a big metal armrest between them), and this lady she gets on and sits down next to me and just lays her bag on my head! I sat up and I swear I just about cried! Stupid bitch I'm sure she did it on purpose.

Once I got to Split, I went to the nearest beach and absoutely roasted myself. Finally, a proper sunny day! Not the greatest beach but ok. Saw some old guy feeling his willy outside his shorts as he was walking along that was pretty off-putting and then a condom wrapper in the water - eck. Met a South African girl there and chatted to her for a bit which was nice. I did maybe slightly overdo the sunbaking! So it was a little uncomfortable sitting on my bum sitting on the chair on the flight back, but it's just about brown today :) I'm happy - last opportunity for some rays! The first in such a long, long time. And the last for a while.. yikes!
