Fist stop MACON?
From Kit and Marsha Go To Europe in Mons, Belgium on Sep 18 '09
Before Kit can go to Europe, she is traveling from Winter Park to Piedmont, SC, so that her and Marsha can fly together to Paris. However, in true Kit fashion she is multi tasking and making some little stops along the way. She left Winter Park at 1:00 pm on Friday afternoon, following the team bus more or less, to arrive in Gainesville, FL for the Mountain Dew Invitational Cross Country Meet, where the mighty Winter Park High School Wildcat girls triumphed. Kit's daughter Sydney is in her fourth year as a runner and braved butt-kicking humidity and a hilly golf course track to run an awesome race.
Kit said good bye to Syd after the race and hit the road (in her really awesome red sports car), and cranked up the tunes (Kay Starr and Brat Pack hits) and headed up Interstate 75 to Macon. Hubby Dave had led the way earlier in the day, with their mutual destination being a not-so-quaint but acceptable Hampton Inn near I-475.
Saturday was a fabulous Parent/Family Day at Mercer. Fun visit with Dave's son Justin who has adjusted well to life as a freshman and had an amazingly clean dorm room.
Lessons on Macon: Downtown is picturesque but not really a fine dining destination. Pickings were slim and somewhat odd-ish. Our eating experience (100% appetizers at a restaurant with no entrees) included a post-dinner visit to Krispy Kreme, which Justin took back to the dorm to the delight of many appreciative dorm buddies.
