Longest day ever.

We got into Barcelona and got onto a bus to get to our hotel/hostel (it was a mixture of the two). The bus dropped us off at the center only a block from our hostel and for some reason we got turned around and went walking through the streets of Barcelona with our huge baggage mid morning....not that much fun! IT WAS HOTT!! Mid to high 90's!! We ended up walking into a hotel to ask for directions....we noticed a sign on the wall... "VOTED BEST GAY HOTEL IN BARCELONA" sonja and i both looked at eachother and realized that's why all the men in the lobby were giving us strange looks. HAHA. At this point we were soo tired from walking around and carrying out luggage EVERYWHERE that we just got a cab that dropped us off at our place. We changed and went out to explore.

We bought a metra ticket which was ideal since Barcelona is such a large city. We went up to La Sagrada Familia which was a Gaudi church that is still being built! It was absolutely breath taking! We then traveled to Plaza Cataluyna which is a big main square with a huge fountain where everyone sits around and snacks or hangs out. We walked down Las Ramblas towards la Playa. We stopped and got tapas and a drink that this small cafe. The tapas places were everywhere. We got a fried fish and another dish which was potatoes with cheese and ham with a special sauce on it which was delish! We walked back up towards la universitat. Barcelona is a beautiful city. I absolutely loved it. I thought it was a little overwhelming because of it's size but I just wish I had more time to explore it. There were so many things to do. We had a very long day and were extremely tired from the jet leg and decided to head to bed at 12. We at least had ac which we were THRILLED about!!

Off to Marseille in the morning...
