Travelled from Granada to Seville on the train. Took us about 3 hours very quiet and comfortable means of transport. Staying in a hotel a kilometre out of the city. There are major road works going on everywhere probably due to impetus for financial crisis, however would be good if they could finish something, dust and shit everywhere. Is very warm about 36degrees. Spent most of our time in the old centre, miriads of narrow winding streets, lots of character. Many plazas with restaurants out under the shade of the orange trees and of course hundreds of tapas bars. Went to a flamenco show that was fantastic, a nice young man to keep Karen happy and a couple of beauties for the old bloke. Followed up with dinner at a restaurant that was previously Arabic baths dating back to the twelth century, no orgies this night. The bull fights are in town on Sunday so we went along to see the action. Fights did not start until 7-00pm so we went on a tour to see whether we would come back later. Our tour guide was very willing to answer our questions so we ascertained the following. There would be six bulls killed that night by three matadors ( two each).  Each matador has his team, two inflict some damage to the bull with small spears and then a team  member on horseback spears the bull with a long lance to prepare him for the final thrust from the "courageous" matador. A judge awards one of the bulls ears to the matador if he performs well, two ears for excellent work and two ears and a tail for exemplary work ( very rarely awarded). Then three mules come in and drag out the dead bull. Now if you think the bull has it tough, you are right, in the 400 years that this ring has been going only ONE matador has been killed. And they then killed the mother of the bull just in case she was breeding killer bulls. Given all of this K and I thought we had heard enough let alone to witness it. One of the highlights of Seville is the cathedral which is the third biggest cathedral in the world after St Pauls and St Peters, a pity we didn't get to see it. On the last day when we scheduled to go, the place was closed as they were ordaining some new priest, just another reason for us to shun religion. We did get to see another marvel the Alcazar which is the oldest royal residence in Europe still in use, the King and Queen of Spain stay there. Very  opulent and well worth the visit. You realise how much history there is here when you are told that Columbus and Magellan set sail down the main river on their voyages.

Don't think I would have gone to the bullfight either. Sounds horrible. Sounds like you are having a very historical time!! We are still in the mundane, work, school, sport, dance routine. Brad is in the grand final for indoor soccer on Thursday night and played his final soccer game today. Hooray!!! Training for cricket now. One more week to go until school holidays!!
