We awoke at 6:15 raring to go!  We opened the windows of our Lakeside room and watched the sun rise over the Lake.  Very peaceful!  We left the hotel at 7:40.  It was a cool 42°.  It couldn’t have been a more perfect day.  The sun was shining and the traffic was minimal.

Today we took the Grand Loop from Yellowstone Lake to Madison and back.  We arrived at Old Faithful at 9 am and waited 90 minutes for it to erupt.  We then geezered over to the Old Faithful Inn and enjoyed their unique lobby.

A delightful end to a delightful day.

We saw many beautiful sights and stopped to see several geysers.  But our favorite was Emerald Pool at Black Sand Basin.

We stopped overlooking the Firehole River and numerous geysers to have a picnic lunch. Our lunch featured Ken’s home-made elk summer sausage, cheese, crackers and cold beverages.   It was a very tranquil setting.

Heading into Madison, a bull elk was seen less than 100 yards off the road.

When we reached Madison, we opted to drive into West Yellowstone, Montana and check out the sights.  It was a very nice town, and obviously catered to visitors to Yellowstone.  We found internet service, which was our goal.  Then back into Yellowstone to return to our hotel.

On the return trip, we took the Firehold Canyon Drive, which was the highlight of our day.  Firehole River Cascade was awesome.

Hungry for a hot meal after a long day of sightseeing, we drove down the road to the Yellowstone General Store at the Fishing Bridge and found their snack bar.  The food was delicious and we were ready to call it a day.  However, we stopped by the Hotel Lobby and found the Sun Room full of people relaxing and enjoying show tunes and old favorites played on a grand piano.  We lingered for a while, sitting and viewing the beautiful photography and paintings on display. This was geezering at its finest!  A delightful end to a delightful day.
