This week, I got the chance to participate in the McLagan Bulge Club.  Basically, everyone chooses a Bulge firm to cover and update the group on what they have been doing.  A bulge firm is a slang term used to describe the company or companies who issued the largest amount of securities on a new issue in an underwriting syndicate, or who are the largest underwriting company or companies in the industry.  The bulge bracket is usually the first group listed on the tombstone, which is an advertisement of a new issue. The Bulge Club meets every other Wednesday, but this is the first time I was able to attend.  I covered both Societe Generale and Goldman Sachs (which are my bosses firms).  Hopefully, for the next Bulge Club, I will have my own firms to cover.  Overall, it was a great experience and I got to learn about firms in the financial services industry.

Also, my boss Justin helped to familiarize me with some surveys that the other teams use.  These surveys have a different naming structure, so he reviewed how they are named and how we map over the survey names.

I presented to a Managing Director and 10 consulting analysts.

On Wednesday after work, everyone went out to dinner because one of the Associates was leaving for a position in a different company.  We went to a “Stamford Classic” called Colony Grill.  They are famous for their pizza which they serve in only one size.  We had an eating competition and raised over $600 for Leukemia Lymphoma!
