Easy Rider und Zahnart

Ueber Dalat wird geagt, dass es so ganz anders ist als das restliche Vietnam. Man soll das Gefuehl haben die franzoesischen Alpen im Fruehling zu besuchen. Dazu muss ich sagen, dass ich in den Bergen war, aber die haetten auch sonstwo sein koennen. Das angenehme ist, dass es hier kuehl ist; die Temperaturen schwanken zwischen 15 und 24 grad, was im Vergleich zu  Suedostasien mehr als eine willkommene Abwechslung ist. Dalat hat wieder einige franzoesische Gebaeude; ueberall sieht man kleine Eiffeltuerme, aber hauptsaechlich ist die Stadt voll von aelteren vietnamesischen Haeusern, was mir sehr gefallen hat. Es gibt der Stadt einen interessanten Charakter.

Als ich endlich in Dalat am Nachmittag ankam musste ich erstmal hinter meinem Ticket hinterherjagen. Es wurde mir abgenommen, obwohl ich bis Saigon gebucht hatte und es noch brauchte. Es hat auch ne ganze Weile gedauert bis ich endlich ein passables Hotel gefunden hatte. Waehrend meiner Suche traf ich auf einen der ‚Easy Riders’. Eine Gruppe von Tourleitern, die dich entweder auf eine Eintagestour auf ihr Motorrad mitnehmen oder sogar in drei Tagen bis nach Saigon – oder sonstwo hin - mit dir und deinem gesamten Gepaeck fahren. Aus Kostengruenden musste ich mich leider nur fuer eine Tagestour entscheiden, ansonsten haette ich direkt nach der Tour nach Hause fliegen muessen, da mein restliches Geld komplett weg waere.

Am Dienstag frueh wurde ich mit dem Motorrad abgeholt. Mister Young ist mit mir zu einer Pagode gefahren; ich habe eine Blumenfarm, ein Gemuesegarten, eine Kaffeeplantage, ein Reisweinhersteller, eine Seidenfabrik und eine Pilzfarm gesehen. Die Elefantenwasserfaelle (Elephant falls) standen auch auf dem Programm. Auf dem Heimweg fing es dann noch an wie aus Eimern zu schuetten; wir konnten uns gerade noch die Regenklamotten ueberziehen. Der letzte Halt war noch ein Besuch des ‚Hang Nga Crazy House’ (Verruecktes Haus); ein surrealistisches Gasthaus, welches aber kaum Gaeste beherbergt. Sehenswert auf jeden Fall.

Aus Nettichkeit hat mich Mr. Young noch zum Zahnarzt gebracht. Er hat auf mich gewartet bis ich fertig war. Ich brauche eine Krone, das heisst einen Tag laenger bleiben als geplant. Die Zahnaerztin hat ihren Job erstaunlicherweise richtig gut gemacht. Ein Deutscher haette es nicht viel anders gemacht, aber auf jeden Fall besser als die Australischen. Nur von dem Etablissment wo die Roentgenaufnahme entstand, war ich nicht so ganz ueberzeugt.

Nach naechsten Tag hat mich Mr. Young zu der Hochzeit von einem seiner Easy Rider-Kollegen eingeladen. War sehr seltsam.Vietnamesische Hochzeitsfeiern sind mittags, manchmal auch noch vor der eigentlichen Trauung. Waehrend das Paar die Torte anschnitt waren alle bereits mit ihrem Essen beschaeftigt. Ein Gericht wurde nach dem anderem aufgetischt und sofort verschlungen. Immer wieder kam ein Gast mit einer Flasche Schnapps an unseren Tisch; es waren noch zwei weitere Reisende dort. Nach 1,5 Stunden war alles vorbei. Abends bin ich noch zum Markt, aber weil es anfing zu gewittern, bin ich nicht lang geblieben.

Am Donnerstag noch schnell zum Zahnarzt die Krone aufgesetzt bekommen und den Nachmittagsbus nach Ho Chi Minh City - oder auch Saigon genannt – genommen.

You says Dalat is differnt to all other Vietnamese towns. You should have the feeling that you visit the Franch Alps in springtime. I have to say I was in the mountains but this could be anywhere in the world. The nice thing about Dalat is the cool weather. The temperatures changes but it is usually between 15 and 24 degrees. Compare to South East Asia it is really chilly and a welcome change for me. Ever now and then there are the typical French buildings. Everywhere you see little Eiffel Towers. Dalat has mostly old vietnamese builings what I really like. It gives the town an intersting character.

Finally I arrived in Dalat at the afternoon. I had to run after my ticket somebody took away from me. I booked a bus to Saigon with an stop over in Dalat so I needed it. It took me also a while until I found a reasonable priced room in a hotel. While I was looking for it I met Mr Young who is one of the famous Easy Riders. They are tour guides who took he around on one day tours or also take you and all your luggage for three days to saigon or anywhere else. Because of the high price I was only able to book a one day tour otherwise I had to fly home straight away becaus I would not have any money left.

On Tuesday Mr Young picked me up and took me first to a pagoda. We visited a flower farm, a vegetables farm, a coffee plantation, a rice winery, a silk factory and a nushroom farm. The elephant falls were also part of the program. On the way back to Dalat it started pouring. Last minute we put our rain clothes on. The last stop was the ‚Hang Nga Crazy House’. It is a surrealistic guest house which has hardly any guest but worth the visit.

Mr Young was so nice he took me to the dentist. He waited also till I was done. I needed a crown so I had to stay one more day. Incredible the dentist did a good job. I can not really say that a German would do a better job but is was better the the Australian one. I just was not so pleased from the room where I got thwe x-ray.

On the next day Mr Young took me to a wedding from one of his Easy Rider collegues. It was quite weird. The Vietnamese weddings take place around noon and sometimes even before the actual wedding. The bridal couple cut the cake while everbody was busy eating. One dish came after the other. A few times guests came to our table – there were two more travelers. After 1.5 hours the whole thing was over.

In the evening I went to the market but because of the upcoming thunderstorm I did not stay long.

On Thursday I went quickly to the dentist to get my crown and then I took the afternoon bus to Ho Chi Minh Vity also called Saigon.
