Today we went with Chantal’s cousin to an old industrial factory that has been transformed into a fun park with exhibits and play areas. It was a beautiful drive as we passed through the countryside at 140 km with other cars screaming past us on the autobahn.
The main building and its elevator shaft have been made to look like an elephant with its trunk hanging down, complete with tusks. Nobody could explain why the “elephant” had been picked to symbolize the metamorphosis of the factory to a park.
She ate! Hurrah!

One of the highlights of the park was a Lego exhibit that included life-sized Star Wars creations. Rory and Scarlett were as tall as the R2-D2 and Yoda creations. Darth Vader towered over the children.
The children also spent a fair bit of time sliding and swinging. Then we went to the water park portion and the kids dashed into a pond filled with hundreds of other children. By time they came out, they were soaked to the hilt and headed straight to the sand. Naturally, they came out of there looking like sand people.
We then visited the Butterfly House. While we watched the brilliantly coloured butterflies flit about, people stared at my children. For a change, it had nothing to do with their hair colour. The disdain-filled looks had to do with appearance of the mud-caked legs and feet.
We had them wash off in a fountain before heading for home. Dinner was a delicious traditional meal of schnitzel and pomme frites. We told the kids that it was chicken fingers and fries. That seemed to work, because they actually ate some of it. That in itself made for a successful day!
