So our trip to Xi'an started out a little hectic. Jamie loves to make fun of me for wanting to get to the airport at a reasonable time, so I said "Fine, we'll leave whenever you want." Using his schedule, we arrived at the airport as our plane was boarding. We somehow managed to get checked in, despite their computers going down and two ladies trying to cut in line. I think the man in front of us was scared of Jamie after he regulated on the 2 ladies, so he cordially allowed us to go first.

We then rushed through security and ran through the terminal with one minute to spare. We made it! But Jamie's bag did not. I hate to say I told you so.....no I don't, I TOLD YOU SO! (Just kidding Red) :) Later that night the airline delivered his bag to the hotel, so all was well. Jamie said they saved him the trouble of lugging his bag through town, so he didn't mind. :)

Awww, it is raining!! Awwww, you have an umbrella!! AWWWWW, it is a BLUE umbrella!!!!!!

Despite all of this, the Terracotta soldiers were amazing!! Take a look at the pictures. Since this site was only discovered some 30 years ago, they're still in the process of excavation. It's crazy to think what it will all look like once they're done.

The people in Xi'an were very friendly. My favorites were the hotel staff. They were all so excited to practice their English that they'd provide a running commentary of whatever you were doing. When the doorman (a nice, young college student) saw that it was raining as we were leaving, he just couldn't help himself: "Awww, it is raining!! Awwww, you have an umbrella!! AWWWWW, it is a BLUE umbrella!!!!!!" Yes, yes, I have a blue umbrella. He was so sweet.

We just spent 4 days in Shanghai and we're in Guangzhou right now. We were supposed to be in Vietnam but we had some more airline drama (nature's fault, not Jamie's :). We haven't been able to upload our photos to Facebook since China blocks the site, so we'll be sure to do this once we get to Vietnam.

Cheers!

Cherisse
