As one of our many excursions throughout the Cours d’été we traveled to Val d’Isere, France. We were on the bus for over 18 hours (began at 1 AM eeek!) But on the way we got to stop at Lac de Genève (Lake Geneva) in Switzerland. This was awesome for me because I’ve always wanted to go to Switzerland and this was just a nice taste of the country.  We stopped for a picnic breakfast (I will tell about our “picnics” later haha) and then had some time to walk around a tiny village on the edge of Lake Geneva. The village was very old and quaint. We went straight down to the lake. It was huge and beautiful. There were a bunch of docked sailboats and swans swimming around the edges. The water was very warm and one of the guys from Finland actually went swimming.  After a while we all headed back up through the rows of Swiss cottages and got some ice cream. In France you have the option of one, two or three boules (scoops) of ice cream. The ice cream also comes in every flavor under the sun. Last year in Nice I tried cactus, lavender, and beer flavored ice cream. This time I just stuck with my favorite, pistachio, and a scoop of yaourt  (yogurt) flavored.
