The big softy that he is, Ed took Candice away for their anniversary to a secret destination... the Southern Highlands, NSW. Candice had never even heard of the area, despite its proximity to Sydney - it's an hour and a half's drive south west of the city.
The area is famous for being twee and English, with teeny towns hosting bric a brac shops selling Olde Worlde homemade jams and pickles, and rolling hills reminiscent of Surrey to the pioneers, no doubt.

We stayed in a gorgeous lakeside inn near Bowral, ambled around the picturesque Berrima, visited a huge bookstore in a barn, even getting in some kulcha by trying on some period costumes in the now defunct court house! That night, we had good honest pub grub at our inn followed by a nightcap by a roaring fire. It was very wintery and romantic.
The next day, we visited a few winefarms, buying a few bottles of the region's famed cool climate wines such as sauv blanc and pinot noir. We then went on a lovely walk at Fitzroy falls near Kangaroo valley and were floored by the views - it rivals the Blue Mountains easily.

On our drive back we took the coastal road via Wollongong watching the sun set over the sea. Was a lovely way to celebrate four great years together!
