We visited both northern Cyprus and Cyprus, which was really exciting,  Northern Cyprus is markedly different than Cyprus because it is worse off economically.  Cyprus has a blend of Turkish, Greek, and British culture.  People from all over the world visit or study in Cyprus every year.  Among my favorite visits were the CHurch of St. Lazarus, because Lazarus was said to have migrated to Cyprus.  I also enjoyed visiting Choirokoitia, which is a Neolithic village with burial practices that resemble those of Catal Hoyuk in Turkey.  The Kyykos monastery was very interesting because it is the richest monastery in Cyrpus, is situated on a hill, and the Greek Orthodox believe that one of St. uke's paintings of Mary is kept there, behind a screen.
