Welcome to Miami, they city of sun, sea and clubs with bad music! Miami is pretty much what it says on the tin, but Ive actually really enjoyed staying here. Overhyped dance and hip-pop music aside, its been quite cool. There isnt much to do in the way of sight seeing, the beach life is really the essence of the place.

I got the tourist things done on the first couple of days. I did a city and boat tour of miami. They bus tour isnt great because there is nothing much to see, but the boat tour of Biscayne bay was good. They show you all the homes of the celebrities, Ricky Martin, Gloria Estefan and the like. But the coolest house was the big white mansion from the movie 'Scarface'.

You could really get into the beach life though, the heat is over 30 every day and really humid, even the water is warm

The next day I went to Gator park in the Evergaldes National Park. That was brilliant. You go on an airboat ride through the swampy canals, with aligators swimming around you. It was like something from a Bond movie! Then they show you how to capture an aligator by jumping on it- Aligator wrestling its called. I got to hold a real aligator and get a picture with it. Awesome!

The last few days have been spent hanging out on South Beach and drinking at night at the hostel.  4th of July was a good night. There was a really good fireworks display on the beach, then the hostel arranged a night out to this ultra trendy 'Mansion' club. Its massive, with "cool" House/Techno music on one floor and hip-pop on another. Suprisingly it was actually a decent night, even if the cheapest drink was an $8 beer!

Miami is pretty expensive- especially for pubs and clubs. The hostel is good though, 3 free meals a day, and everybody just hangs around at night drinking in the hostel. Its not really a place to get an early night though! Miami is quite muliti cultural with more spanish spoken than english.

You could really get into the beach life though, the heat is over 30 every day and really humid, even the water is warm! There quite a few 'dudes' on the beach really living up to the stereotype! Overall the place is quite chilled, just needs some pubs with decent music and cheap beer!

Its on to New Orleans tomorrow by plane. Its supposed to be another party city and even hotter, so by the time I reach California I'll either be exhausted or burnt alive or both!!! Pics on Picasa.
