Kein wirklicher Touristenort; Reisende kommen hier meist her, um die Bootstour auf dem Jangzte (oder Yangzte oder auch

Yangzi) Fluss zu machen.

Dies war auch meine Absicht. In Xi'an habe ich Cony aus Frankreich getroffen, die ich bereits aus Pingyao kenne. Sie hatte den selben Plan. Im Zug waren noch zwei Englaender; allesamt wurden wir am Bahnhof von dem Tour-Veranstalter abgeholt und in sein Hostel im 19sten Stock eines Apartmenthauses gebracht. Dort haben wir uns ausgeruht, bis wir abends um 17 h aufs Boot konnten.

Die Stadt hat nicht viel zu bieten. Wir haben auch nicht viel getan, ausser bummeln und Essen einzukaufen und uns das typische chinesische Stadtleben hier anzuschauen. Es war heiss, aber auch nicht zu dolle, denn als wir ankamen hat es in Stroemen gegossen. Dem scharfen Essen kann ich zustimmen, denn die Nudeln, die ich bestellt hatte, die nicht scharf sein sollten, waren es aber doch.

Die Stadt hat keinen Grund hier uebernacht zu bleiben, Orte wie diese findet man ueberall in China.

Not really a famous tourist place. Most of the travelers only come here to do the Yangtze (or Yangzi) River cruise.

That was also my reason. In Xi'an I met the French Cony again who was also in Pingyao in the hostel. She had the same plan. I also met two English guys in the train. Altogether we got picked up from the tour manager. He took us to his hostel in the 19th floor of an apartment house to relax till we will get on the boat at 5 pm.

The city doesn't have much to offer. So we didn't do much except window and food shopping and have a look at the typical Chinese life here. It was hot but not too bad because it was pouring down when we arrived. I believe that this place is known for its spicy food. My noodles I ordered which were supposed to be not spicy, were still quite hot.

No need to stay here overnight, a city like you will find everywhere else in China.
