One wordcan describe Cyprus, hot in all it's different meanings. I was l long for shade. As one wise professor told me, "The most important tree in Cyprus is the one that provides the most shade." For a translucent guppy like me who's used to seeing her veins, he was right on the money.

For the last leg of our trip, we obviously went to Cyprus and my transient lifestyle came to a screeching halt as I realized I won't be living out of my suitcase anymore.

Cyprus has a little bit of everything, but my one of my highlights were food, hands down. Meze style redefines the limit on how much one can eat and was a good way to things that I may not necessarily have ordered normally. It was because of meze that I was introduced to holoumi, a kind of fried cheese that is more delicious than words can describe. I also somehow acquired a taste for dried apricots.

In Cyprus we went to the church of St. Lazarus, whch I felt was impressive only for the art that seemed to be crammed in a rather small church. Every inch was richly decorated.

Lastly, the water festival Kataklysmos was going on and I got to see traditional folk dancing which was fascinating. Even though I could not understand what the song was about, it was too easy to let myself get sucked in. There was a complicated dance where the men had sickles they spun around. I was glad they had a firm grip on those things. This was my other highlight.

This trip has only wetted my apetite for travel and I'm thankful I had the chance to go.
