They say Queens Day is the best time to experience Amsterdam. So, when my friend Martyn invited me to stay with him and revel in the atmosphere I had no hesitations. A cheap direct flight with Aer Lingus and I was there in no time.

What Traditional music is to Ireland, House music is to the Netherlands. It's everywhere on Queens Day. Every cafe, bar, and club set up their turntables outside and play house music all day long. It's quality! The number of people in Amsterdam increases from something like 800,000 to 2 million on the day. There are parties everywhere! Sun was shining what more can you ask for. Well, one more thing. Martyn was djying on a canal boat (approx 50 people on board) so myself and Kev were on board as we cruised along the canals, bystanders envious. Stopping under bridges and hearing the sound vibrate was incredible. Overall, it was an amazing day and something I won't forget.

Queens Day - there are parties everywhere..

During our visit we managed to catch up with Barbara (who we met and travelled around Oz and New Zealand with) and Anne (who I met in Mexico). So cool to hang out again and catch up.

Hopefully we'll get a chance to experience Queens Day again!
