After a very uncomftable journey from Beijing (In china they sell standing tickets even for long journeys, bodies were all over the floor and if you stood up from your chair it would be gone.) we arrived in Xi'an we had booked in advance which included a free station pick up. The next day we visited the terracotta army, pretty impressive though it is still a work in progress. It must be the biggest Jigsaw puzzle in the world all the warriors were smashed and archealogists are spending lifetimes putting them back together. We made loads of friends at our Hostel and it seemed no one wanted to travel for a bit so we all stayed a couple of extra days just for the social. we had some good nights out and also visited the museum (where you can get closer to the terracotta warriors) and the muslim quater. Most are friends were going on to Chengdu though We wanted to head north west. So it was another sleeper train to Xining.
