Luxury accommodation
From Big OE April - July 2009 in Preston, United Kingdom on Jun 07 '09
Had a really nice breakfast at the Duke of Edinburgh, a variety of cooked breakfast you could order. The hotel even though it was very old it was right up there as far as quality goes. Very tastefully decorated and service excellent. Made our way to Preston via the scenic route for some of the way before joining the motorway. Arrived at accommodation at 12.30pm, room not ready but they said they made our reservation a priority, room should be available very shortly. The hotel is the Marriott and located on a few acres with lovely gardens, very grand!! Staff very helpful and friendly. Have booked a room for the night and dinner and breakfast for $290.00 NZ so a bit of a treat. The meal was a three course meal. Went for a drive to central Preston, looked for internet, no luck. Came back to hotel and room was ready, very nice just as expected.
Went for a drive to Blackpool promenade, really long with heaps of lights, would be amazing when they are all going. Thought about going back this evening but luckily asked at reception and they said they are only used in the winter. The whole promenade must have been 5km in length. Dinner at hotel as part of the deal. Really nice male, entree, main and desert. Entree £7.95, main £22.00 and desert £5.95, not sure how that all works as we paid £90.00 for room, breakfast and dinner. A very good deal. Muz couldn't wait to get back to the room away from the nobodies who thought they were somebody. Only 8 other people in the restaurant. The deal was obviously because they were very quiet, I heard mention of only 44 people in house, I imagine the place holds hundreds.
