Welcome back fellow travelers!

Motoring North from Charleston, SC on US17, we came by roadside stands selling sweet grass baskets.  A truly productive industry appealing to the tourist trade for decades.  Today, it is one of the oldest art forms of African origin in the United States. Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, an old village and modern suburb on the north side of Charleston Harbor, enjoys the distinction of being the only place where this particular type of basketry is practiced. Here, the descendents of slaves from West Africa continue the tradition.

Oreos and ice cream!

We "camped" at Apache campground in North Myrtle Beach and it is quite the operation. Complete with a large fishing pier, hundreds of campers have bought sites and constructed permanent single and double wide houses to enjoy during the season.  The Apache management kept a number of sites available for transient RVers like us to enjoy the city, pier and the wonderful beach.  Super place!

Met up with fellow Flagler RV club members traveling South from Massachusetts, Ken, Cathy, and their daughter, Darrah.  A wonderful dinner and visit with friends from home.  Thank you.

Next day, we were blessed to also rendevous with friends from Virginia, Carl, Carol and Frances.  Camped next to us, we feasted, laughed at old war stories, and visited the local retailers, hoping to find super bargains.  Frances treated me with Oreos and ice cream.  Oh well, I will start my new diet later.

Teds, Carol and Frances went off to find bargains at the outlets, while Carl and I languished at Camping World for treasures to add to our rvs.  Little did I know, we would travel halfway across the continent to find it.  But, find it we did and shopped like hungry dogs in a butcher shop.  Finding items to store in secret compartments of an rv, you know, just in case one ever experiences a catastrophic calamity like fording a river, shooting the rapids, or running from a mean grizzly bear.  You never know when those things could happen!!!!!

We bade farewell to our dear friends from VA and stayed over a few days.  Sunday, went to the pier to attend a church service with about 40 souls.  What a blessing to find services in the neatest places.

Next stop, Oak Island and Brother John and wife, Sissy. Stay tuned.
