Took the scenic coastal route to Galway. Visited the Cliffs of Moher on the way. Very calm and hot day, not wind at all. Magnificient scenery at Moher. The visitors centre was built into the hill. The area between Moher and Galway as exceptional stoney. Stopped for lunch at a nice country pub at Doolin. Found accommodation at Oranmore, just on the outskirts of Galway. Another Maldron hotel and just the same high standard.  A bit funny with there bar and restaurant though, you had to sit in a certain area to get food even though it was the same room.  They got us to move to another table and then they did  the same to another couple, quite weird!! Food was nice though.  Made our way to the Volvo village and had a good look around. Looked over the Pumma boat that got 2nd in 2005. Currently has a NZ skipper called Alastair, got to speak to him briefly. Very busy in Galway because of the Volvo village. Very hot and still again, a brilliant day.

Tuesday

Mase our way into town to find the carpark that we used yesterday, didn't go to plan, couldn't find the carpark, found a space in a pay and siplay area, then found an internet and spent 2 hours making bookings for Scotland and England. Gave up going back to the Volvo Village. Went for a drive north around the coast up as far as Rossaveel, then across the penninsula to Oughterard. Couldn't find anywhere to have lunch until 4pm at Oughterance. On the way Oughterand side it was very bush and green and on the Rossaveel side it was very stoney. Every house had stone fences surrounding the houses. On the way over the penninsula we saw them making bricks out of the soil, they use these on fires as a source of fuel. Back to the hotel via all the traffic jams, everywhere you turned the traffic was jammed. Found a bottle of Wally's Hut (OZ) Verdelho at the local garage for 6.99 Euro, a nice drop!!
