Seoul (pop. 10,400,000)

Seit ueber 600 Jahren ist Seoul Suedkoreas Haupststadt. Ein Viertel der Bevoelkerung lebt hier und gehoert zu den Top 5 oder 10 (je nach Website) der groessten Staedte der Welt. Seoul's Wolkenkratzer sind nicht so geballt und hoch wie z. B. in Hong Kong oder Tokio. Jeden den man fragt, mag Seoul; ich kann mich da nur anschliessen.

1. Woche

In Seoul habe ich Paul's lila couch in Beschlag genommen. Ich kenne sein Land wie meine Westentasche, er kommt naemlich aus Neuseeland. Er ist auch wieder ein Englischlehrer. Am ersten Abend haben wir zufaellig in meinem Geburtstag reingefeiert; waren in einer Bar, haben einen Amerikaner dort getroffen und haben die ganze Zeit Dart gespielt. Feuchtfroehlicher Abend also.

Ansonsten sind wir abend oft aus zum Abendessen und ein paar Bierchen zischen. Tagsueber habe ich mir Seoul angesehen - in Grossstaedten gibst ja immer genuegend Auswahl. Ich muesste mich auch noch um mein chinesiches Visum und anders Organisatorisches kuemmern, was mich dann doch Zeit und Nerven gekostet hat. Auch bin ich ein Meister in Orte nicht zu finden und auch nicht wiederfinden. Schlechte oder falsche schriftliche Beschreibungen sind da natuerlich nicht hilfreicher. Das ich den Weg zum Bahnhof ein paarmal nicht gefunden habe, ist dann doch eher eigene Doofheit.

Mein Visum habe ich am Mittwoch beantragt. Durch zu viele Feiertage muss ich nun bis naechsten Mittwoch warten bis ich ausreisen kann.

2. Woche

Bis ich mein Visa fuer China bekomme habe ich noch genuegend Zeit lange zu schlafen, mich einfach auszuruhen und trotzdem noch alles zu sehen, was ich geplant hatte. Bin ja nun doppelt so lange als eingeplant.

Ich habe weiterhin Maerkte und Museen besucht, war wandern in den Bergen gleich hier am Rande von Seoul und war in einer Sauna mit Whirpools aehnlich wie die in Japan, wo ich war.

Ich wurde zu einem Grillabend eingeladen, war ab und an abends essen und einen Trinken, habe endlich mal wieder DVD geschaut und habe dann endlich am Mittwoch mein chinesisches Visum bekommen. Leider nur fuer 30 Tage, nun muss ich schauen, was ich machen muss, um die zwei Monate im Land zu bleiben.

Gleich nachdem ich mein Visum bekommen habe, habe ich mir ein Ticket fuer die Faehre nach China besorgt. Donnerstag am spaetem Nachmittag gehts nun los und werde am Freitag um 9 h Ortszeit in Qingdao, China ankommen.

Ich hatte eine schoene Zeit in Seoul und ich habe nette Leute kennengelernt, aber nun ist es wirklich Zeit weiterzuziehen.

Seoul is South Koreas captital for more than 600 years. A quarter of the population lives here. It is one of the Top 5 or 10 (depends on the website) of the largest cities in the world. The Skycrapers are not so close to each other and high as in Hong Kong or Tokyo. Everybody you ask they love Seoul I agree with that.

1st week

In Seoul I took Pauls lilac couch. I know his country quite good, cause he is from New Zealand, another English teacher. At the first night we celebrated into my birthday by accident. We went to a bar met an Amercian guy and threw some darts and had a few or more beers.

Otherwise we went out for dinner and a couple of beers a few nights. At daytime I went to heaps of attractions, there is always a lot of stuff to do in big cities. I also had to do some paperwork; applying for a Chinese Visa was one thing. It took me a lot of time and nervs. I am a master of taking the wrong direction and don't find the right place straight away or agin. Bad or totally wrong describtions don't help either. Well, that I had problems to go straight to the subway station is a bit of a stupidness of mine.

On wednesday I applied for my visa. Because of too many public holidays I have to wait until next wednesday before I can leave Korea.

2nd week

Till I will get my visa for China I have enough time to sleep long, takeo a rest and I can still can see whatever I have planned to see. I am here about the double time I thought I would be.

I went to markets and museums, I was hiking and visited a sauna and spa - pretty much the same to the ones in Japan.

I was invited to a barbeque and I was every now and then dining out and had some drinks with some mates. I also had time to watch DVDs. Finally on wednesday I picked up my visa - Unfortunately only for 30 days so I have to find out what I have to do to stay for two month.

Right after I got my visa I bought my ticket for the ferry to China. On thursday I will leave at the late afternoon and will arrive in Qingdao, China on friday at 9 am local time.

I had an awesome time in Seoul and I met very nice people but - really - it is time to move on.
