Neel here. Some quickie updates:
- Managed to get sunburned - despite constantly slathering on suncreen, apparently I missed some spots on my shoulder! Ouch.
- The food is off the charts - every meal has been either very good or outstanding, from the holes in the wall to the fancy spots. Mer y Sol in Flamingo (fine dining on a hill overlooking the Pacific) and Hicaco restaurant in Jaco (all you can eat lobsterfest with great food and amazing live music) were OUTSTANDING
- The people are awesome - everyone is friendly, and it feels very comfortable
- This country is deserted right now - the best crowd we've found so far was a half full restaurant. I've spoken with other travelers who have been the only couples in entire hotels. Sort of cool, sort of spooky.
- Weather has exceeded expectations - Two bouts of rain so far, both during transits, so it's actually impacted our trip VERY little. It's mostly sunny and hot!
- Surfing Rocks - We learned how to surf this morning at Jaco Beach. Wow, what fun. And exhausting - I understand why surfers are so ripped.
Okay, now it's off to Manuel Antonio National Park to find some pristine beach and jungle. More to come!
