HA!  I beat neel to being awake today!  Up at 8 and the volcano is still socked in with clouds... let me 'splain last night.. no not enough time.. let me sum up (5 points to the first person to name the quote).

Last night we decided we HAD to see the glowing lava flowing down the volcano so we got Rolando to pick us up at 8pm and drive us around the back side of the volcano... we'll it was raining.. lightning... windy.. cloudy.. and generally crappy weather so we couldn't see a darn thing.  So instead I fell back on my old travel standby.. "lets go to the store and buy six pack and hang out"  So we did, but hanging out included Neel and I sitting in our room having a "redneck picknic" on our cooler between two chairs in the room watching a really bad movie with Bill Pullman (yankee hank) and a couple others.  After the movie we decided to wander to the lobby to see if we could meet anyone.. nobody there.. the hotspring pools were emptied to be clean (really cool engineering of those pools by the way!) but the three main pools were still open so we sat up there and hung out just shootin the breeze.

That road goes to Monteverde.. good thing we're not going there then!

Strange fact - there are no mosquitos here right now.  literally an hour of sitting outside in my bathing suit at 11pm with no repellent on and nary a bite.. very odd!

So back to today.  We hop in the van to go and see the local waterfall.  Thinking we were going for a nice long hike, Neel and I are all geared up for a great morning.  Well it is a great morning but the hike is a steep 300 set of stairs down with no hike.  But it turns out to be WELL worth the money to enter the park and the hike.  The waterfall has to bee one of the most amazing I have seen.  Pounding the water so hard that the current is nearly impossible to overcome the raw power of the water was impressive!  At 210 feet the waterfall, set amidst the beautiful, lush jungle was what really surprised us and had us mesermirzed for several hours.  Swimming and taking pictures and just sunning ourselves on the rocks was quite relaxing.  I actually forgot it was a work day.. I actually didn't care that there was other things to be done that day.. I was just in it for the moment and the moment was grand!

After the massive hike back up... did I mention I swet like a horse... we get back into the car and head on out.  We drive past the lava flows and although you can't see the glowing red during the day, the steam from teh flows was quite evedent and we were even lucky enough to catch a minor erruption... TWICE!  Just like you see it in all the movies, the billowing steam and smoke and rock falling down the sides was truly a memory like no other.

Bounce bounce bounc.. jostle.. twist.. CRAP.. I left my credit card on the table at lunch (not as good as yesterday).. turn aroud... rain.. getting dark... not sure where we're going.. getting to the hotel and...

AHHHHHhhhhhhhh .... The ocean and the beach!  We are here.  We are in our seaside room with a view of the water from our patio.  Tomorrow morinng promises to be georgous for us.  I'm headed back to the room now to sit with an Imperial and listen to the waves wash the cares of your working stiffs at home away.

You are getting soft....only 300 stairs. Everything looks beautiful and what a bonus to be able to enjoy without crowds of people. I am waiting for you to do the rip line thing and don't forget to take a tram over the top of the rain forest. I know now that you are at the ocean you may stay there forever. What does Ronaldo do when you are doing nothing! Good job! I'm also waiting for his picture and one of your luxury land yacht. What kind of roads are we talking about? See any wild life other than Hookers?

By the way, when are we going to see a picture of Rolando, your brave guide on this journey?

Inconceivable! My five points, please. (For those who don't speak in code, the movie is "The Princess Bride" - if you haven't seen it, do so!). I won't repeat my credit card comment that I posted on Neel's entry, so I hope you check out his responses as well. Nice waterfall! That looked pretty cool.
