One word for San Jose at night: Hookers.

Neel again. First night in San Jose - Woo Hoo!!! So what should we do? Hang out and experience the night life, of course! Our driver suggested a hotel in the middle of a series of casinos and bars, which sounded like a great idea. So we checked in, then walked about 500 yards to a promising looking casino... and...

Oh wow, a hooker. Oh wow, two of them. Oh, there´s another group of them. Hmmm, come to think of it, I CAN SEE FIFTY OF THEM FROM THE FRONT DOOR (I am not exaggerating)! Holy crap. We actually walked around the joint just to find a table to sit and watch some TV and drink some beers. But the place was SO over-run with hookers that we ended up leaving a few minutes later. Seriously, it was pretty crazy (and depressing). There was an abundance of cleavage, and a distinct lack of hem line.

This was clearly not the kind of ¨night life¨we were looking for

On the streets? Hookers. The next bar? More hookers, although a bit less crazy than the first. So we camped out on some stools, drank our Imperials (Costa Rica beer), and I pointedly ignored all the pretty ladies waving, smiling, saying hello, etc. Bill and I called it our ¨F-Off¨mode, and it seemed to work.

I´m really looking forward to exploring San Jose BY DAY, because the city block we´re on is clearly for, um, those seeking professional help.
