Annapurna

A nine day trek into the Himalayan range dominated by Annapurna.

It was not as arduous as it may seem, as we flew to Jomsom for some trekking with plenty of stops in remote and interesting villages, followed by several days of driving downhill, which proved more difficult than the trekking. Last stop was Tatopani to soak in the hot springs (FABULOUS)

The whole area is SO photogenic that it was very difficult to resist uploading even more photos than you will find here.

The route took us to Kagbeni for the first night, Ranipauwa for the second, Jarkot for the third, Ekle Bhatti for the fourth and Marpha for the fifth and final night of the trek. Then we took transport to Tatopani and stayed overnight.

The trek was 'designed' by Chris Beall to accomodate my weak left knee (strained during a 2 hour descent from Triund, Dharamsala) and Marian's desire to understand the local cultures, and not just walk through it all on a quest! Consequently we visited 6 monastries.

Our guide was the excellent Santosh, a calm and experienced Nepali.
