Free Car = Jump In and Drive

We decided to take a day trip out to Connemara today.  Connemara is about a 150 mile ring just north of Galway with some of the coolest scenery we've scene yet.  The travel book I have suggested a good path, with lots of info on where to stop, what to see, etc., so we used that.  Driving is getting easier, but it is still weird.

We stopped at a couple of really scenic places along the way, Kylemore Abbey, Cong Abbey, and Ashford Castle.  We spent the majority of the day in the car, getting in and out whenever the mood struck us.  While we were in Cong City, I think I almost lost my mind (at least temporarily).  Randy and I walked to the Cong ruins and I decided that it was a little cool and that I wanted to get my jacket.  I went back to the car while Randy walked around the Abbey.  From the abbey we walked to Ashford Castle, which took about a half hour.  When we were walking back to the car, I couldn't find my car keys, which caused me to panic a little.  I could not find the keys ANYWHERE.  I walked back to the car, and I LEFT THE KEY IN THE DOOR (on the outside, mind you) - the whole time that we were gone! Needless to say, I am thankful that there were honest people around who weren't in the mood to steal a car.  I cannot imagine the trouble we would have went through/been in if that would have happened.  We were definitely ready to get out of the car when we got back to the B&B.

On the plane we sat next to a woman who lives in Galway, and she recommended that we eat at this restaurant, McSwiggins.  We had dinner there, and it was by far the best meal we have had since we have been in Ireland.  We are hanging out and getting ready for sleep, I am exhausted after driving all day.  It was great though.

Tomorrow we head out.
