Champagne here we come
From Big OE April - July 2009 in Reims, France on Apr 18 '09
Enjoyed the last of the great breakfasts before heading to the train station. Only a 40 minute ride on the fast train. Found our accommodation that was handy to the train station. Visited the tourist cente at 1pm and were on a tour around the Champagne region within an hour. It was good timing as everything is sut here on Sundays. Catherine took us along with a youn girl caled Lotus on a drive around the region stopping at some villages, visited a World War bunker, the community laundries, qnd lastly a tour into a cave. There was 45000 bottles of champagne in each bay and there was lots of bays, sampled some very nice champage. Catherine was Russian on her 30,s and married to a local wine maker. We had lots of fun talking about cultures etc. She was late returning us to the city but we were fine with that. The tour was 2.5hours.
Raining really hard now but walked into town for a pizza.
Sunday we visited Epernay for the day including the home of Moet were we did a tour and some more champagne tasting. lots of nice wine buckets and bits and pieces that you could buy, next time I think we will need to come with just about no luggage. Had a beaut lunch, entree, main, dessert and a glass of wine for 14€.
