Snorkeling, Beaches & the Sunset!! (Sunday)
From Scott & Kristi's Eleuthera Trip in Eleuthera, The Bahamas on Apr 26 '09
4-27-09 8:56 am. Well yesterday (Sunday) was an awesome day. You will see the pictures and video we are going to try to post at the same time as this. We started out in search of Ten Bay Beach. Apparently the mileage in our book is wrong because when we tried to do that to get to the beach we ended up in a great secluded snorkeling cove (where the video we are posting is.) We saw some very large jellyfish once we passed the cove and ended up in the Caribbean, so we didn’t go out any further and just turned and went back in the cove. We did see a large stingray out there before we headed back in though. Once in we went looked around the shelves I pointed out in the video and saw conch, grouper, bonefish and a few other little reef fish as well as a school of these fish that were sort of a translucent blue. No sharks or swordfish here either Grant. Don’t worry buddy I’m still not getting too close to them.
We then left and found the road to Ten Bay Beach. The beach was without question the most beautiful beach I’ve ever seen. We saw a couple starfish here as well as thousands of little mini conch shells and lots of sand dollars.
We headed home to get ready to go out to dinner and I had my coconut adventure. This pretty much sums it up. Coconuts that are ripe don’t like to come off the tree too well. Even if you throw hundreds of other coconuts at them. Use some sort of a long aluminum pole to poke them (if that pole was just a foot or two longer…) throw large rocks and a few other methods including trying to climb the tree in shorts. Fyi the tree climbing thing was not exactly my shining moment of intelligence!
We went to Sunset Inn for dinner, and sat in a gazebo on the water watching the sunset. Great view of the Caribbean. It was a bit cloudy but that led to some fantastic pictures from our budding photographer.
Unfortunately I just got off the phone with the dive boat people and was told we would not be able to go diving to finish up my certification till Thursday. So it looks like this trip was a bit of a waste as fart as diving goes. But we have been having lots of fun doing other things too, so I don’t think either of us is too disappointed about it.
Well we are heading off to the Library now to make this post and head out for our day. Grant, I hope you had a good day at school and have fun playing with Grandpa. Be good, I love you.
