Fun in Phoenix
From Road Trip in the Southwest in Phoenix, United States on Apr 18 '09
Our last day of the trip. We left the Grand Canyon and drove two hours to Sedona. A touristy, but cute town surrounding entirely by red rock mountains. Killer views. We had lunch at a cafe with an outdoor patio. This area is known for its luxury spas and metaphysical practices.
Another two hours of driving and we arrived at the Camelback Inn. Wow! I don't know that I've ever stayed in a resort quite this nice. I've definitely never been to a Southwestern pueblo-style hotel. Very neat. Cactus everywhere. Hacienda rooms. And it was very warm. A nice change from the snow.
The was standing room only as guests sipped cocktails and enjoyed the warm evening.
Jeff and Katelyn hopped in the large pool while I indulged in a hot-rock massage at the world famous spa. A great treat after being on the road for nine days. For dinner, we dined at the five-star BLT Steak House. Jeff had prime rib while I enjoyed a special vegetarian creation from the chef.
On the way back to our room, the luxurious outdoor patio was lit with strings of white lights as a live band played Beatles music. The was standing room only as guests sipped cocktails and enjoyed the warm evening.
If we didn't have to get up at 4 a.m. to catch our flight, we would have stayed to enjoy the scene. Too short of a stay at such an incredible resort.
We home now. Lots of great memories from our road trip adventure.
