Let the Touristing Begin!

Over the international date line we went - gaining two days - so on Fri. April 10th we had a relatively quick layover in Auckland (Julia just HAD to have a BK Chicken Sandwich) then onto Christchurch. There we cleared customs, declared nothing, and picked up our trusty rental car. Julia immediately tried to enter the wrong side of the car and has frequently confused the wipers with the directional but no calamities so far. We successfully navigated the short route into City Central and met Baby Amy at the YHA. WHEELER GIRLS REUNITE! Today was a day of touristing - the overrated International Antarctic Centre with the crazy road course ride and a short stint in the Botantical Gardens which has certainly resulted in far too many shots of roses. Then a quick stop at the internet cafe before we headed off to dinner at Cafe Valentino - one of the few restaurants open on the apparently VERY important Good Friday...yummy gnocchi and fettucini carbonara. Then three very tired girls were dead asleep by 9pm. Ha!
