Salto, Uruguay
From 2008 and 2009: Our wedding and honeymoon in Salto, Uruguay on Mar 14 '09

We spent time reading and sleeping during the seven hour bus ride to Salto. The countryside that we passed was pretty deserted except for cows. It was very green though. We arrived at the bus station and got taxis to Hotel Uruguay. After getting settled, the group went to dinner. The cafe that we went to had terrible service and food for dinner. Luckily, Lori’s ravioli was ok, but the spaghetti noodles that a few people had did not look great. Ian thought that they messed up his order, so he started eating what they brought him only to have it taken away and replaced with the meal that he originally ordered. The orange juice that they claimed was fresh was also made from concentrate. We told Christian that he should not take any other groups there, but he continues to think that the food and service was ok.
Salto does not really offer much to see and was really only a stop over place before we went to the Iguazu Falls.

Salto does not really offer much to see and was really only a stop over place before we went to the Iguazu Falls. We decided to go to the water park for the day. After breakfast, some of the group took taxis to the waterpark. Christian did not go with us, but gave instructions to the taxi drivers. Unfortunately, there were two water parks, one that had slides and one that was a thermal spring. We did not know this and the taxi driver dropped us off at the thermal springs one. We saw the slides in the background, so we thought we were in the right place. When we first arrived, it was cool out, so we quickly showered and got into the thermal pools. As the day went on, it warmed up a bit outside. It was nice to relax and enjoy the sunshine. We made sandwiches for lunch. Alan and Locke discovered we were at the wrong place when they went to find the slides after lunch only to find that there were two parks. We left the thermal pools at 2:30 pm and met the group at the hotel. At 4 pm, we left the hotels in taxis.
