We measured our island time not by a conventional watch, but by the balance of snorkeling, eating, motoring, reading, and cocktailing. None had specific durations, but each filled our time with pleasure.

Mornings were peaceful. Mary and I took turns being the early riser, and we'd tip toe outside and read or watch the sun come up and wake each small creature. Soon after, Carolyn would bring out the French press, fresh fruit, and other great breakfast foods. We'd sit and watch with sleepy eyes as pelicans dove in for a morning bite to eat.

We measured our island time not by a conventional watch, but by the balance of snorkeling, eating, motoring, reading, and cocktailing. None had specific durations, but each filled our time with pleasure.

Then came snorkeling. Or motoring and then snorkeling. The tropical fish were abundant in every shape, color, and size. Tangs, turtles, squid, barracuda, reef shark... too many to count or name! We must have seen every shade of blue in the spectrum. The cameras took great photos, but none really captured the Caribbean colors as they really are.

Motoring and afternoons were time for reading and soaking in the views. We were like students cramming in the summer reading books the last week of summer and trying to get it all done. I think Mary beat us all with her five  books. It was such a luxury to sit and have the time to read as much or as little as we wanted. Harry did sudoku puzzles all week. His daughters bought him an "extremely difficult" book and it kept him busy.

Carolyn cooked wonderful meals and makes great use of her kitchen in the galley. We even grilled a couple of times as well.

After dinner, we'd watch the sun set (I took several photos of those amazing skies) and dance or watch the tarpon feed on small silverside fish. Fruit bats also came down and flittered all around, but I never captured a photo of one.

The most impressive evening was in Lee Bay. We were captivated by the flurry of fish jumping out of the water (sometimes a dozen at a time) and pelicans, frigates, boobies, and turns all diving in for their suppers when two dolphins graced us with their presence. It nearly brought tears to our eyes seeing them so close. I did get a few photos of the dolphins, but the photos don't do them justice at all. They quietly came and quietly left.

Phil and I are so thankful for the opportunity to leave our hearts in a new corner of the world. I still believe that I belong in the mountains, but I will happily travel to the Caribbean again just to say hello to my friends the turtles, birds, and fish. To feel the warm sunshine while it poured down rain back home was and odd feeling, but one that I was grateful for.

Mary and Harry, we love you and are fortunate to have you in our lives. Thanks for sharing part of your paradise with us.

Steve and Carolyn, you are an inspiration. It is an honor to know people who are truly living their dream and loving life. Your knowledge of the area and the life around us made the trip fascinating and fun. Thanks for your amazing hospitality and friendship. We hope to be aboard the Skedaddle again some day.

Here is a link to a few photos (turns out it wasn't difficult to get the best of the best as I thought it might be). There are photos of several boats,  but the catamaran that we stayed on is called "Skedaddle". Look for it in the photos.

Trip Photo Album

*NOTE: The first 2 pages of photos are Carolyn's underwater photos. They were not taken while we were there, but they are a good example of the beautiful creatures that we saw while we were there.

Feel free to leave comments on the photos and forward the link to others who might like to see Paradise in still frames. If you do leave a comment, please leave your name so that I know who to thank!

Feeling blessed once again.
